New Year’s Eve Events

It’s almost time to party away the end of the year and end of the decade! If haven’t already made plans with your friends, here’s a list of celebrations worth checking out.

Opening Night 2010
Opening Night is a New Year’s Eve celebration with music, dancing, theater and fireworks! Opening Night 2010 takes place on Dec. 31 from 7 p.m.-midnight in venues around Downtown Oklahoma City. This year’s entertainment features a variety of performances from some of Oklahoma’s brightest stars. You’ll need an Opening Night admission wristband to gain access to all venues, all night long. Wristbands are rather cheap at $8 in advance or $10 at the event. For more information, visit the Opening Night Web Site.

Bricktown
Not only are there events in the Downtown, but the venues in Bricktown will each hold their own events. JJ’s Alley, which we featured in our first episode, looks to be the only free to enter venue, so swing by there and check out some of their performances.

New Year’s Eve Freakout No 3 with Flaming Lips
You can also join the Flaming LIps’ “New Year’s Eve Freakout No 3″ at the Cox Convention Center. Opening the show will be Stardeath and White Dwarfs. Tickets are $20 and $25 (plus all of those ticket fees).

Sing in the New Year
Join performers from The Sooner Theatre as they Sing in the New Year in what is quickly becoming Norman’s favorite New Year’s Eve tradition. This year’s production will feature the music of MGM including That’s Entertainment, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, The Trolley Song and many more. Beloved Sooner Theatre performers Dr. Irv Wagner, Erica Thomas, Mandy Jiran, Vince Leseney and Marcy Gonzales will be joined by numerous other singers and dancers in this heart-warming New Year’s Eve celebration. The show will begin at 7:30 pm on December 31. Tickets: $25, $20

THE Party New Years Eve on Brookside
Celebrate Tulsa’s first ever Ball Drop while you Party on the streets of Brookside. The event is FREE if you bring a canned food item for the Food Bank. The event will feature a Lighted Ball Drop from the Tower of Channel 2 Studios, Firework Show, VIP Party Tent, live entertainment from some of Tulsa’s Best Bands, Street Performers, and Street Vendors. Visit their web site for directions and details.
