1. Film Row Says, “Laissez les bons temps rouler!”

If you listen closely, you’ll swear you hear the wind blow through the weeping willow trees as the smell of gumbo mixes with blooming crepe myrtles during Premiere Night on Film Row, from 6 – 9 p.m., Friday, March 21st. This month’s theme is Mardi gras!

“Mardi gras may be over in New Orleans, but its spirit is blowing into Film Row this month on a southern breeze mon cheir,” said Kendall Brown, executive director of Individual Artists of Oklahoma (IAO). “Head out of the faubourg for boo coo fun in the Film Row parish!”

2. Music at DC on Film Row

DC on Film Row will have the sweetest sounds this side of Preservation Hall with live New Orleans and Dixieland jazz along with a Mardi Gras mask making station.

3. Free Art Shows at IAO

IAO will host the fantastically talented Oklahoma artist Erin Shaw in the main gallery, with the Arts Council of Oklahoma City’s Teen Advisory Council hosting a group show in the Project Space Gallery.

4. Hart Building’s Street Party

Over at the Hart Building, KOSU Radio, CMR, AMR, Ferrell Oil AHMM and the deadCENTER Film Festival will be hosting a street party that would make the French Quarter lose its religion with games of ping pong, cornhole and hopscotch, all the sounds Norman Zydeco artist Kyle Reid. Reid will be performing an acoustic show at 7 p.m. inside the KOSU studios, along with a beer tasting from a local craft brewer. Seating is limited. 5. Adult Jenga Tournament

The Hub OKC will feature The Flukes, who will be playing two 30 minute sessions beginning at 7 p.m. There will also be an adult Jenga tournament and a 10 percent discount for anyone who tags their Hub OKC purchase on social media.

6. “People I Know”

The artwork of local artist Jack Fowler will be featured at Oddfab Design Lab. Fowler’s project, “People I Know” will feature portraits of friends and acquaintances in the Oklahoma City area.

7. Elvis Lives!

Elvis lives at The Paramount OKC during an outdoor showing of “King Creole” with live music by Loose Shoes and improv and standup comedy by Oak City Comedy. You can also catch a performance by Race Dance group.

8. Birds-Eye View

Critical Mass Productions, LLC, will offer a birds-eye view of the whole things with Submission Productions’ flying camera areal footage. You can read more about this here.

9. Food Truck Roll Call

If your tummy starts to rumble like the Mississippi River, there are plenty of choices with some of OKC’s best food trucks, including Taste of Soul Chicken and Waffles, Kaitiki Ramen, Smokin’ Okies, Roxy’s Ice Cream, Klemm’s SmokeHaus, Off the Hook Seafood, The Crepe Brewers and Huey’s Shaved Ice.

In 2006, the city declared the 42-block section of Oklahoma City the Oklahoma City Film Exchange District.
