Independent Bookstore Day in Oklahoma

Held on the last Saturday in April, Independent Bookstore Day is a one-day national party that takes place at indie bookstores around the world. Here are some Independent Bookstores in Oklahoma worth a visit, with a focus on new books. List sorted in alphabetical order.

1313 E. Danforth Road, Edmond
Best of Books is an Edmond independent bookstore that sales new release books, bestsellers, educational books, childrens books, stationary, gift items and toys. Every Saturday morning they host a storytime for ages four and up, along with special events throughout the year.

31 N. Main Street, Miami
Besides browsing the bookshelves at Chapters in Miami, you can hang out in their open seating areas, drink coffee, or meet in the Route 66 Community Room.

Commonplace Books in Oklahoma City’s Midtown District describes themselves as bookstore about books and people. Sections are based in interests and themes like Intellectual, Historian, Insider, Activist, Achiever, Poet, Mystic, Host, etc. instead of the more formal categories.
