It’s Willow Way for this Q&A session about their album, Cold Amber. We talk about the album, but also some random stuff like what they like about the circus, how to find someone, what makes them weary, and more.
How do you describe yourself and your music?
Fresh, organic, free-range. Where a couple of grass-fed Americana chicks meet some carnivorous Indie-Rock dudes.
What got you interested in music and sharing it with others?
Willow Way started off as a sister duet–we grew up playing, singing and writing together. Many of our songs are female-driven, I think that has become a huge part of wanting to share our music. We want to delve into perspectives from women and to seek empowerment through songwriting and creating music.
Use only seven words to describe your album, Cold Amber?
Flirtation, Foreplay, Climax, Exhale, Entice, Repeat.
What was the greatest challenge you had when making the album?
We decided to release two EP’s vs. one LP. Our recording time went smoothly, our biggest challenge was probably what songs we wanted to present on Cold Amber and why.

How do you stay in a positive direction when negativity surrounds you?
Ironically, tune out the noise. Focus on intuition and practice self-care.
What do you like about the circus?
The elephants holding trunk to tail.
What makes you weary?
Inauthentic people.

What are some great spots to “stand still” in Oklahoma?
We prefer to dance most anywhere in our fine state.
Anything else you want to say or let people know?
This year has been a strong teacher of resilience for us…relationally, personally, even physically. It is amazing how music can be the heartbeat that helps you get through the hardest of times and can serve as a glue to bring people together. Our band has so much love for each other, we are truly a family. We only hope to continue to create music that can reflect our camaraderie and personal resilience, while also keeping our bad jokes and fashion faux pas going.
