Artist Statement: The Nghiems, the Oklahoma City band fronted by brothers David and James Nghiem, released an animated short today to promote their single “Ain’t Nobody” from their latest album “Soulmatic.”

Featuring time travel, the video details how the brothers recruited their bandmates while parodying various movies.

The video pays homage to classic time-travel films such as “Back to the Future” as well as more obscure titles such as the anime “Steins;Gate.”

Mike Allen, who also plays bass for the band, drew all of the character models for the video. CVW Media, a local production company, handled all of the animation.

The Nghiems released “Soulmatic” digitally in April of this year, which they followed with a limited vinyl release in August.

“Soulmatic” is the band’s second album.

Also, listen on Sheridan on Apple Music and Spotify.

Artist Statement: We don’t like referring to ourselves as artists or to our songs in a self-aggrandizing way. We make instrumental music that appeals to us. Sheridan is a street in Tulsa and it’s the first song recorded in our latest studio space.
