Monday Music Discovery for January 7, 2019

Welcome to the Monday Music Discovery playlist, where I feature a mixtape of both new music video videos and singles of all genres of music by local bands in Oklahoma. In this Monday Music Discovery, there’s new music by Toyil, don’tblinkoryou’lldie, Lunar Division, and Kat Lock. If you’re interested in having your music video or new single highlighted, connect here.

Hard to Find by Kat Lock

Artist Statement: Daniel Aaron Austin reached out to me to film a music video and the first location I could think of was The Sooner Theatre! I grew up doing musicals there when I was six and until I was about 19. We had a small time period to get in there and film, so I pretty much just invited some of my best friends to come out on the day of filming, and we made it up as we went. The 3 girls (Kendall, Peyton, Allie) happened to be wearing similar shirts so we came up with them being a funny audience. Jacob (from Ben Quad) and I were there last and goofed around with the set until we came up with someone. Of course, I had my live band play with me. Using the theatre felt very right, as “Hard to Find” is a nostalgic love song, and the theatre was definitely my first love.

Everything will be okay in the end by don’tblinkoryou’lldie

Artist Statement: Track 5 from the new don’tblinkoryou’lldie EP, “Battle Jazz Classics II”. Available January 1st, 2019 on Cheapbeats.

Mixing by skybox, @sky_box
Mastering by Noah Hafford. @noahhafford
Artwork and design by Kino Johl.
Thank you for everything.

Getaway by Lunar Division

Artist Statement: This is one of the first songs we wrote as a band, we wanted something catchy but also pretty rocking to get toes tapping and heads nodding. We think we were able to accomplish that with this one.

evolove by Toyil

Artist Statement: “evolove”–the latest single from Toyil–is an audio palindrome. It was recorded, reversed, relearned and then re-recorded.

Instrumental, dark, Middle Eastern influenced experimental rock, “evolove” is a mirror of itself.

Toyil, a two-piece instrumental group from Tulsa, Oklahoma comprised of Vitorio Anchietta and Justin Siggins, began releasing music in 2018 with the EP ‘Each a Stinger.’
