Chickasaw Nation Arts & Humanities Black Box Theater

An evening filled with tales of romance and everlasting love is planned Thursday, February 9 at “Love Stories”- a story concert and Valentine mini canvas paint event. The event begins at 5 p.m. at the Chickasaw Nation Arts & Humanities Black Box Theater. Guests will have an opportunity to design and create a Valentine painting on a miniature canvas. “Love Stories” begins immediately following the painting workshop and will feature tales about all types of love – from friendship and family to classic stories of romance, shared by traditional Chickasaw storytellers Lorie Carmichael, Stephanie Scott and Dixie Brewer.

They will do some experimenting with different concepts in hopes it will increase your experience. Explore the wacky courtship of animals and learn how the Oklahoma City Zoo plays matchmaker for species preservation, all from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 11. The Individual Artists of Oklahoma will host a fun community event and brunch in honor of Valentine’s Day. Bleeding Hearts Brunch will doubling as their closing reception and the last opportunity to view their 2017 Juried Show. Guests will enjoy the closing reception of IAO Gallery’s Annual Juried Art Exhibition (with over 50 artists), short love-themed films, music, bloody mary’s, coffee tasting, and brunch eats. Tickets are $15 when purchased online or at the Gallery in advance, $20 at the door.
The Annual Stupid Cupid Pub Crawl by the Norman Music Festival will be on February 10, 2017 from 6 pm to midnight during the 2nd Friday Art Walk. Participants of the pub crawl will receive a free t-shirt at the end of the night at the Opolis during the after-party. Participating bars include:

The hotel will also be hosting a special Valentine’s Day celebration for guests to enjoy. The celebration will feature live jazz music from Justin Echols in The Fountain Club from 8 to 11 p.m. on Feb. 10 and 11. Admission is free and open to the public (21 years of age and older) and will include a full cash bar.
