Friday & Saturday April 13th & 14th from 7pm-Midnight
IAO Gallery in the Film District
706 W. Sheridan, Oklahoma City, OK 73102
A Provocative Art & Performance Event for adults! 21 and over.
Individual Artists of Oklahoma (IAO) announces the 21st Annual Biting the Apple juried art exhibition with the theme of GLAM.
Over the course of two nights, Friday, April 13, and Saturday, April 14, 2012 “Biting the Apple: GLAM!” GLAM is the shortened version of the word ‘glamour,’ a word that denotes something is or appears better than the real thing. Glamour was originally a spell cast upon an individual to see things in a more attractive way. The idea of GLAM and glamour would change with cinema, the music industry, and fashion. Hollywood gave rise to the glam icon. Later rock and roll would provide us glam rock. Fashion brought glam to the forefront of popular culture. Soon all aspects of pop culture from photography to prized automobiles, homes, and jewelry would be synonymous with glam, and glamour. Biting the Apple 2012: GLAM encourages artists of all media to explore the lust for those things which are better than reality.

The Time Traveling Troupe
0Why, hello there!
I want to take a moment on Uncovering Oklahoma to talk about my newest show, the Time Traveling Troupe. The Time Traveling Troupe is an improvised comedy series inspired by Doctor Who following the adventures of The Traveler, and her two companions, Travis and Tiffany. Watch the terrific pitch video above introducing the cast, the show, and our plea for your support to make The Time Traveling Troupe series a reality!
The show will be filmed with multiple cameras in front of a live studio audience at Reduxion Theatre in Oklahoma City. At the beginning of each episode, The Traveler will ask for three suggestions from the audience to set the story for the show. Each night they will be joined with various talented improvisers to play supporting characters. The first season will feature 12 episodes with a run time of approximately 30-minutes. Episodes will be available to watch for free in full via YouTube for everyone.
There are great gifts in exchange for your support. Visit our Kickstarter page for more details. Then like our Facebook page and our Google+ page and then tell your friends! It’s an everything-or-nothing deal so any pledge will be helpful. Jessi, Kyle, Raychel and I are all incredibly excited about the show. I hope you make a pledge. I’ve been wanting to do do a “filmed in front of a studio audience” show for some time now. I believe this will be a first for Oklahoma City (certainly in some aspect).
Thank you!
DNA galleries presents The Custom Toy Show

This Thursday, March 22 from 7:00pm until 11:00pm DNA galleries (1705 B NW 16th St in Oklahoma City) will present The Custom Toy Show. I speak with Dylan Bradway about their upcoming show.
What kinds of toys will people see at The Custom Toy Show?
There are a variety of different styles: customized pre-made vinyl toys, handmade plush dolls, wooden stacking dolls, customized model truck and even some hand sculpted creations. It’s safe to say we didn’t limit the type of entry.
Who are some of the artists making toys for the show?
Mainly local artists with a few near by out of towners: Dusty Gilpin, Tanner Frady, Ashley Smith, Josh Reynolds, Jayce Cogburn, Promise ‘Guidry’ Edmonds, Kris Kanaly and many more.
Why are you doing this?
I mean really doing shows like this is always fun cause you never know what you are going to get. We’re also trying to have more group shows this year to promote more artists and try to build on the great young arts community that is growing every day here in OKC. The scheduling of this show is also a lead into a quarterly art event in the Plaza District that will be outside of the normal Live on the Plaza event.
If someone can’t make it to the show, will they get another chance to see the toys?
The toys will be up for at least a week after the event so try to make it out before then.
How does the future look for another show?
We are always trying to come up with new ideas for shows, this is just one that has always been on our mind so we thought now was as good a time as any to go for it. If we don’t do another toy show there will always be something else we can invite people to participate in, but if all goes well we should see more toys at DNA in the future.
Anything else you want people to know about the show?
One thing come to mind that I wish we didn’t have to tell people, PLEASE don’t touch the toys unless told to or if you plan to buy them. But beyond that we just hope everyone can come out and have a great time, and come help support your local art scene.
