The 2nd Friday Norman Art Walk is a monthly, citywide celebration of art in Norman. It’s a collaboration between artists, art organizations, and businesses, brought to you by the Norman Arts Council. All events are free and open to the public from 6pm to 9pm.
The main action happens in Downtown Norman where many of the businesses are having art shows, live music, giveaways, and other fun activities.
Beer lovers have pub crawls and wine lovers have wine tours. Coffee lovers have…Caffeine Crawl! Grab your travel mug as the buzz is already building. The Oklahoma City Metro will all take part in highlighting local treasures when it comes to coffee and tea.
Each business will showcase its unique skills and style with a short, educational presentation and a delicious sample. Crawlers will receive a ‘swag bag’ with take-home treats from participating shops and sponsors. Each route will be led by a Caffeine Crawl tour guide, and Crawlers will provide their own transportation between stops. With a diverse variety of participants, The LAB is thrilled to welcome you back to Oklahoma for a caffeinated weekend to remember!
Tickets to Caffeine Crawl range from $30 to $40, depending on the route, and are available at CaffeineCrawl.com
Step back in time for a day of revels at the Medieval Fair. The annual Medieval Fair arrives April 5 – 7, 2019, at Reaves Park in Norman from 10 am to 7 pm each day. Enjoy mirth and merriment with kings, queens, knights and fools as the kingdom comes alive.
Held annually since 1977, this living history fair features arts, crafts, food, games, educational exhibits, demonstrations and ongoing entertainment at seven stages.
Entertainment for the whole family includes minstrels, dancing, theater and reenactments, jugglers, knights jousting on horseback and human chess games. Brightly costumed characters include King Arthur, mermaids, and the fair’s royal court.
Browse through the medieval village of over 200 art and craft booths offering unique and handcrafted wares. Offerings include pottery, wood crafts, stained glass, armor, costumes, fairy wings, jewelry, leather crafts, hair garlands, and much more. Watch master crafters demonstrating their skills.
1) While you may feel like you’ve traveled back in time, there are ATMs available.
2) Pets are allowed, though not encouraged because of the large crowds, and leash laws are strictly enforced.
3) While the event is free, parking is not. For a fee, you can park one block south of Reaves Park at Lloyd Noble Center on Jenkins Avenue.
4) To get the best view of the shows, arrive early to get a close spot.
5) Visitors to the Fair should be aware of the City of Norman’s ordinance that prohibits smoking in City parks.
6) Smoking and Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
