Date Guide

Uncovering Oklahoma showcases many great places and things to do around Oklahoma with friends, but how date worthy are the places? Here in our date guide we share our thoughts on different places and ideas for dates. We’ll even mention some drawbacks, factors to consider, cost, additional suggestions, and if it’s good for a first date or something that you should do after you’ve been dating for some time. Keep in mind as my man, Plato, once said, “You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.”

General Date Ideas

Create A Movie/Play
Have your date bring some unusual props and costumes from home. You may even do this as a group date. Then meet up somewhere and act out a scenario – comedies are best. To get the show rolling, start off by parodying your favorite films. You can even throw a spontaneous play at a park’s stage, such as the one at E.C. Hafer Park in Edmond. Another idea: perform a show on someone’s apartment patio while others below watch.

Ice Blocking
Buy or create a large block of ice and use it to slide down a hill. To create your own ice block, find a cardboard box, line the box with a trash bag, fill with water (about 3″ or 4″ of water is all you’ll need for a nice, thick block of ice), put some rope in and out of the water to make a handle, and finally freeze the water. Be sure to take some towels to sit on the ice block.

Scavenger Hunt
Scavenger hunts work best with groups of people in a competition manner, but you could easily create a treasure hunt of clues and gifts for your partner to follow. Scavenger hunts can easily be done anywhere, from malls, graveyards, and even in Bricktown. You can involve video and picture cameras for more fun. They do require some preparation, but with the help of Google, ideas are easy to find. Another twist to the scavenger hunt idea is to kidnap your partner’s favorite item and hold it for ransom until they meet your demands, which include items to complete the date such as popcorn for a movie or candles for a romantic dinner.

Paint
Use brushes or your fingers create a masterpiece together. One can be the brush while the other is the painter if you want to be intimate.

Thrift Store Challenge
Set a price amount, like $5 or $10. Enter a thrift store, split up, and find either the funniest, coolest, neatest, ugliest, or whatever item for under the set price and buy it. Variations include finding a clothing item and have the loser wear it the rest of the day.

Paint War
Buy several large sponges, a tarp, some cheap rain ponchos, and a one color of paint for each person. Dip the sponges in the paint and throw them at each other.

Dark Dining
Either one cooks or both cook an item and dine in total darkness. Dark dining European tend designed to remove a person’s sense of sight to heighten their senses of taste and smell, giving them a better appreciation of the meal.
