Oklahoma City Date Guide
Uncovering Oklahoma showcases many great places and things to do around Oklahoma City with friends, but how date worthy are the places? Here in our date guide we share our thoughts on different places and ideas for dates. Plus, we even discuss places for picnics. We’ll even mention some drawbacks, factors to consider, cost, additional suggestions, and if it’s good for a first date or something that you should do after you’ve been dating for some time.
Café 7
As featured in Episode 2, Cafe!
DENNIS: I have to say, Cafe 7 is a great place to bring a date. They have a good section of food so both people, even vegetarians, should be able to find something that he or she will enjoy. It’s not too expensive either, so if one person is paying for the meals, it won’t break the bank. However, when it gets busy it can be a challenge to find a seat. Quail Springs Mall is across the street, so there’s an option of seeing a movie. Cafe 7 does have deserts. I personally recommend it for a date, even first dates.
Cuppies and Joe
As featured in Episode 4, You’re So Sweet
Cuppies and Joe is quickly becoming a one of Oklahoma City’s favorite date spots with it’s relaxing atmosphere, warm drinks, and yummy treats.
Groovy’s
As featured in Episode 5, Grooving with Robots in the City
Visit Groovy’s if you’re looking for some more serious dancing for your date and not the typically bump-n-grind action in most other clubs. It’s 21 to Enter and Drink at Groovy’s and they play the fun songs from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.
Midtown Deli
Midtown Deli does offers a wide selection of beers, pizzas, sides, and of course, sandwiches to their guests. Though on Tuesday nights you can enjoy all of this plus free live music.
Myriad Botanical Gardens
Voted as one of the nicest park in the city, Myriad Botanical Gardens makes the list as a date worthy park. The Myriad Botanical Gardens is one of the few locations in the state where one is within walking distance of food to bring to the park. There are a few draw backs. One it is in Downtown, so parking may become a challenge. Though on the flip side, you are in Downtown, so there is always something to do afterwards or before hand. The park is host to several events, so check ahead of time to make sure nothing is happening there. Come on a nice, peaceful day and the date will be rewarding. HOWEVER, at this time the gardens are closed for renovations.
OKC Improv
As featured in Episode 8, Comedy Around OKC
It’s hard to go wrong with impressing your date with live comedy. Seeing a live performance in general is a much better idea than seeing a movie for a date. There may not be any popcorn, but you’ll be laughing too much to eat anything. Be sure to bring cash for the cash bar.
Oklahoma River Cruise
Board one of the Sunset Theme Cruises and relax on the deck in the fresh Oklahoma breeze or inside the climate-controlled cabin enjoying music and appetizers. Although the Oklahoma River Cruises do have various themes, the Sunset cruise is their best for romantic and serious dates. The Sunset cruises depart at 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday evenings from Regatta Park Landing – April 23 through October 30. The 90 minute cruise includes music, light appetizers, soft drinks, and a limited cash bar. Cost is $29 per person and space is limited to 32 passengers, so you’ll have to book a reservation. Visit oklahomarivercruises.com for more details and to make reservations.
Rocktown
As featured in Episode 3, Daring Adventures
DENNIS: Rocktown is a two-person place as you’ll need a partner, so it makes sense that you would bring a date here, right? Well, Rocktown is a good place for a “date” with a significant other. It will test your relationship, so don’t push each other. If you’re considering hitting up Bricktown afterwards, factor in this: you will sweat and smell from climbing throughout the day. Bring a second set of clothes and something to freshen up with.
Keep in mind as Plato once said, “You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.”
