The Plaza District gets red-carpet ready for LIVE on the ApPLAZA, this Friday, May 9th!

Get your hands up in the air for ApPLAZA – I’m not talking about the Lady Gaga song – I’m talking about The Plaza District as they gets red-carpet ready for LIVE on the ApPLAZA, this Friday, May 9th! This Friday’s LIVE on the Plaza, sponsored by Fowler Volkswagen of Norman, will have plenty of Oscar-worthy activities. Here’s seven reasons to cheer for this month’s LIVE on the Plaza event.

1. Lookalike Contests

Guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Okie or Non-Okie celebrity for a lookalike contest. Winners will receive prize packs including gift cards from Plaza businesses, courtesy of Fowler VW of Norman. For those delving into the past, Dig It will be hosting a “Dead Celebrity” lookalike contest. Guests will be able to strut in style down 16th in free sunglasses from Allegiance Credit Union and Fowler Volkswagen. Feel even more like a celebrity with a free ride from Uber OKC.

2. Paparazzi for You

Have the paparazzi on you, but in a less stalker way. Stop in to PhotoArt Studios for their monthly photobooth and snap a pic to remember the night!

3. The Art of Hair

The Velvet Monkey Salons will be celebrating their 13th Anniversary with, “The Art of Hair,” a fashion show featuring over 75 models styled by the Velvet Monkey team. LIVE goers can enjoy live music and DJs here.

4. Live Music and Art

Besides Velvet Monkey, enjoy music at Bad Granny’s from Ronnie J Wheeler. Tree & Leaf Clothing will be featuring live music from DJ Damn Haze as well as displaying works from local artist, Kaleb Nimz. Angela Westerman presents her newest show, “Organik,” at DNA Galleries.

5. Love Mom Well

This weekend we celebrate moms at Collected Thread’s Happy Hour event, “Love Mom Well,” an indie-made event with pop-up shop from Love Well Handmade, giveaways from Mariposa Coffee, flowers from Juniper Designs, portrait time and much more!

Create your own work and explore your inner artist at Paint N Cheers with this week’s painting, “Sunset Sailing on Lake Hefner.”

6. Date Night Food

A trip to the Plaza is always great for a date. There will be several local food trucks as well delicious fare at any of the Plaza’s local restaurants, with service and cuisine guaranteed to make anyone feel like a celebrity!
