Biting The Apple
Plans are underway for Individual Artists of Oklahoma’s (IAO) 31st Biting the Apple fundraiser and art exhibition. One of IAO’s signature fundraisers, Biting the Apple provides a venue for artists working in provocative and erotic subjects. The event will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 8 p.m. to midnight at the IAO gallery, 706 West Sheridan, in Oklahoma City’s historic Film Row.

The erotic party will feature visual art, performance, live music and more. General admission is $40 in advance and $50 at the door. VIP tickets are also available for $90 in advance and $100 at the door. VIP admission includes early access to the party, exclusive access to the VIP Lounge, open bar and event goodie bags. Costumes are encouraged at this year’s masquerade-themed Biting the Apple!

Marilyn Artus, a visual artist who explores the female experience in her works, will jury the 2016 Biting the Apple. Past vice president of IAO, Artus is founder of the Oklahoma City branch of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School and one of the creators of The Girlie Show, an all-female art and craft show. She has also been a burlesque promoter, curator and mentor to numerous female artists.

One of the longest running erotic art exhibitions in the country, IAO’s annual Biting the Apple is also seeking submissions from artists for this year’s event. Those working in visual art, film, music, and performance are encouraged to submit by April 27.
