Lauryn Hardiman – Norman Music Festival
Solo singer-songwriter, Lauryn Hardiman, who will be performing a free show at the Norman Music Festival, speaks with me in this performer question and answer session. She will perform at Michelangelo’s on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 2:00pm. Since this is the ninth year for the festival, here are nine questions to get to know her.
1. To get people to know you, how would you describe yourself and your music?
I would describe both myself & my music as both very laid back and very raw. my lyrics are real & heartfelt and my goal when performing songs is to touch as least one person and make them feel something.
2. What song would you like a person who hasn’t heard your music listen to first?
For a person who hadn’t heard my music before, I would suggest they listen to my song Light. I feel that is it very empowering, and a lot of people I know enjoy that song and the lyrics.
3. What’s your song writing process?
The song writing process for me is very different for each individual song. sometimes, I have a melody in my head, or certain lyrics, or even a certain riff on my guitar. sometimes it’ll take me 20 minutes to finish a song, or 2 weeks. just depends on how in depth I want the song to be.
4. What are your thoughts on the Norman Music Festival?
I love the Norman music festival. my parents started taking me when I was about 10 years old and ever since I’ve been hooked. I never actually thought I would get to play my own music at the festival but this is my 3rd year in a row and I couldn’t be happier!
5. In general, what inspires you?
What inspires me is watching other people play and perform their music for others, seeing people’s reactions and even hearing people sing the words just gives me goosebumps and I hope I can have an audience like that one day. something that also inspires me is life situations in general, they spark great songs.
6. You’ve just been offered an all expenses paid trip. Where would you go?
I would go to New York City or to Chicago because I have never been to either of those places and I love the big city feel.
7. Any plans while you’re in the Norman area?
I’d love to get gigs every weekend all around Norman as long as I plan to stay here. I’d also like to perform with other Norman/Oklahoma artists as well.
8. Anything else you want the public to know about you?
I’d like the public to know that I’m very approachable and I love making new friends! I’m open minded and I’m always open to criticism.
9. What do you think should be the Ninth Wonder of the World?
Norman Music Fest, duh.
