LoneMoon – Norman Music Festival
LoneMoon’s sound has been described in two spectrums – one as peaceful, ethereal and thought provoking, and the other as fast paced, hard hitting, and energetic. LoneMoon, who will be performing a free show at the Norman Music Festival, speaks with me in this performer question and answer session. LoneMoon will perform at the Fowler Honda Gray Street Stage on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 7:30 pm. Since this is the ninth year for the festival, here are nine questions to get to know Luna Morris.
1. To get people to know you, how would you describe yourself and your music?
LoneMoon is a musical project of vocal and instrumental experimentation. I make what I like to hear and it’s humbling to see that a lot of other people like listening to that too – I just want to make something cool.
2. What song would you like a person who hasn’t heard your music listen to first?
I’d actually suggest two songs – my tune “Downtown Drive” and my new song “Pull Up” with Visceral.
3. What’s your song writing process?
When I begin a song I usually write down a catchy riff that’s been repeating in my head or record a vocal hook that’s been doing the same.
4. What are your thoughts on the Norman Music Festival?
I love the Norman Music Festival – it’s a fantastic place for musicians and listeners alike to connect, listen and just generally enjoy each other. It’s an amazing environment and I wish more and more festivals like it happened all across Oklahoma – WestFest is amazing too!
5. In general, what inspires you?
[pullquote-right]”I aspire to create an environment where everyone feels like they can dance, man. That’s one of the only things I’ve wanted with music. I want people to be able to dance with me when I dance up on stage and sing and rap and DJ to them.”[/pullquote-right]People. I attended [email protected]’s Metro Music Fest, and seeing all those people up on stage getting everyone to dance – just inspired me. I aspire to create an environment where everyone feels like they can dance, man. That’s one of the only things I’ve wanted with music. I want people to be able to dance with me when I dance up on stage and sing and rap and DJ to them. I love that feeling.
6. You’ve just been offered an all expenses paid trip. Where would you go?
Straight to Japan. I spent the first half of my life living there, and I feel like I need some more connection time with the music, the people, the landscape… the food… everything!
7. Any plans while you’re in the Norman area?
Attend the festival and hopefully play some extra shows around there! Eat lots of food and have a good time with my friends.
8. Anything else you want the public to know about you?
I’m a musician that wants to make a difference in and outside of the musical realm. Everything means something to me. Let’s create a new world together.
9. What do you think should be the Ninth Wonder of the World?
Human beings – we’re messed up sometimes but when we work together positively we’re greater than any natural phenomenon. So much greater.
