With the motto, “Ice Cream so good it should be illegal,” get to know Contrabandz Ice Cream Lab in this Food Truck Q&A session.
What do you serve?
A gourmet ice cream originated in Thailand. It’s handmade starting with a base cream that we add in different ingredients to make unique flavors.
What got you started on the food truck for Contrabandz Ice Cream Lab?
We both wanted to be our own boss, travel around and meet amazing people.
Let’s talk about the design of the food truck. What made you go with your truck? What was the design process like?
We wanted a street art theme-graffetti like. Our great friend Dallas Morgandale, who is an amazing artist, painted it. Charlotte had the vision of her hippie chick, on the backside of trailer, Dallas brought it to life. Levi told him, “Just get trippy with it.” That’s exactly what he did and we love it.
What can people regularly expect from you?
Besides delicious ice cream, we want people to leave with an experience. When you come to Contrabandz Lab you are getting friendly service, good vibes, and amazing ice cream that you get to watch be prepared just for you.
What’s a typical day like?
A typical day on Contrabandz Lab is an adventure. We have some of our best days together, getting to put smiles on peoples faces is awesome.
What are some of your usual spots and where can people go to learn more about your truck and where you’ll be located?
We travel around Oklahoma and have been to Texas a few times. We like the festivals and events. We set up locally at Bleu Garten as much as possible. We love the atmosphere and people there. Follow us on facebook.com/contrabandzlab, Instagram @contrabandz_lab, or on Twitter @contrabandzlab
If you were sent to another world where your ice cream was indeed illegal, how would you still get it to the people?
We would fight to legalize it, but until then we would wrap it in turkey bags and move it underground.
Anything else you want people to know? Any records or fun facts you wish to share?
The day we bought the trailer it was almost lost. We traveled to texas near dallas to purchase the trailer and on the way home the trailer came unhitched while driving down i35. Luckily only cosmetic damages incurred. Like I said, its always an adventure.
