Artist Statement: Made it out the hood is L-1-3’s testimony about the transition from a boy in the streets to a man in this world…He touches on things he has been through the life, he survived, and the growth he has experienced. Made it out the hood is a celebration as well as a subtle reminder of the mindset we must have to be successful. No matter what obstacles you experience in life you can overcome anything and use what tried to break you as tools to help build you. It is inspirational while also remaining introspective…the sample is an ode to Tulsa, Oklahoma legends the Gap Band and the production from Worm is the perfect combination for L-1-3’s lazy but confident flow. This song has a summertime barbecue written all over it.
