The all-girl rock band, Shoulda Been Blonde answers ten questions in this Norman Music Festival performer question and answer session to get to know them before the festival. Shoulda Been Blonde will perform at the Main Street Event Center on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at 7:00 pm.

1. To get people to know you, how would you describe yourself and your music?

We are an all girl band from Shawnee, Oklahoma. We range from ages 13 to 20. Our music, at least to us, is difficult to place in a particular genre. Some of our music is pop punk while others are more alternative. Our music is fun but also introspective.
– Brenna Furstenwerth (bassist) and Peyton Wilson (lead singer)

2. What song would you like a person who hasn’t heard your music listen to first?

My personal favorite is Overthrown, and that’s the song I recomend. Our most popular song is Turn the Lights Off.
– Brenna Furstenwerth

3. What’s your song writing process?

We honestly have a different song writing process for every song. Generally, our lead singer, Peyton Wilson, writes the lyrics and the main melodies first and the rest of the band helps her edit the lyrics or add in our own if there’s an empty space in the song. After the lyrics are written, our producer and band dad, Scott Grein, helps to build off the music already written. We all contribute to lead riffs or background vocals. Sometimes I start writing the song and everyone else helps me out. It’s a team effort.
– Brenna Furstenwerth

4. What are your thoughts on the Norman Music Festival?

We are super stoked to play with all of the other musicians and be a part of the festival! This will be our first year performing at NMF.
– Brenna Furstenwerth

5. In general, what inspires you?

All of us are inspired by other musicians. We know how hard being a musician can be and how much time and effort it takes to be good at what you do and how stressful it can be.
– Brenna Furstenwerth

6. You’ve just been offered an all expenses paid trip. Where would you go?

Maybe Greece or the Bahamas. Somewhere with a beach and a place that is warm and sunny. We’re all extremely cold natured and love the sun.
– Peyton Wilson and Brenna Furstenwerth

7. Any plans while you’re in the Norman area?

We plan on rocking out and checking out the other bands that will be playing. One of my favorite things to do is to look at merchandise and to try new restaurants.
– Brenna Furstenwerth

8. What else you want the public to know about you?

We are all happy doing what we love. We aren’t doing this for fame or for money, very few musicians reach that anyway. We just put out music hoping to brighten other people’s day.
– Madelyn Idleman (rhythm guitar) and Brenna Furstenwerth

9. What do you think should be the Twelfth Wonder of the World?

We should be the twelfth wonder of the world. Just kidding. What’s a cool volcano? I like volcanoes.
– Peyton Wilson

10. What was the most extreme adventure you’ve had?

I like to think that we’re always living an adventure. Spending your time with your best friends and doing what you love is what makes an adventure. Maybe we’re not extreme but every day brings something new, every gig we make new friends, and with each song we reach more people and that’s a good enough adventure for me.
– Brenna Furstenwerth
