A Beginner’s Guide to Arcane Summoning by Power Cycle

ARTIST STATEMENT: “A Beginner’s Guide to Arcane Summoning” is the single and first track of our debut album, Too Many Damn Cables. It’s an album that is completely improvised. The album came from archive recordings of Power Cycle rehearsals; in the times between rehearsing things for concerts, someone would start making sounds, then others joined in, and we’d be in for a ride, following each other’s leads. The video is taken from the same shoot for the album cover – too many damn cables, literally – then with a variety of effects thrown onto it. All of the promo material for the album is the same video with lots of effects.

Power Cycle is an experimental electronic trio of composers that came together through their graduate studies in music composition at UCO. They are J.R. Edwards, Breck McGough, and Santiago Ramones. They recently performed yet another Electric Pizza concert at the UCO Jazz Lab. The next Electric Pizza is on March 2nd, and the concert will feature electroacoustic compositions from each member of Power Cycle, played by UCO students. All of the previous Electric Pizza concerts are on our YouTube channel or on our website.
