Artist Statement: This video was filmed all across my home state of Oklahoma. It is the introduction to my latest album “Grounded.” The Kick is a song celebrating second chances. Inspired by the film “Inception” I reinterpreted their telling of “The Kick” to describe the times I need God to give me a “Kick” waking me up from my slumber and revealing the goodness of life all around me. Sonically the song takes you into dark sounding almost aggressive energy into mysterious ambient moments. Add in thought-provoking lyrics and it becomes something you experience more than just listen to.
Map by Salem Blue
Artist Statement: Map is an acappella song that was recorded on an iPhone, believe it or not. We ultimately loved the way it sounded and that ended up being the final version you hear today! Our goal with the video that accompanies it was simple: to create the exact environment that you imagine when you hear the song. We tried waiting for it to rain naturally, but in summer in Oklahoma that’s a long wait haha. We ended up “making it rain” ourselves and I think it actually worked out better that way (no water on the cameras). I think it turned out super well; I absolutely get lost in it every time I watch it and Sarah’s performance was perfect. Enjoy!

Artist Statement: This song was written the day I found that tragically my friend, Asa Miller, had lost his battle with depression. I was in my band room, honestly just praying about it. I was so heartbroken, so angry, so hopeless. A moment later, I know how this will sound, I almost audibly heard the words “3rd fret.” So I listened, and put the capo on the 3rd fret of my guitar. Almost immediately, the song “Hang On” poured from me.
When I finished writing it- which was probably 5-7 minutes later- I felt a glimmer of peace, though I was still completely crushed. I want people to know this song is supposed to help them understand that even though we can feel worthless, and feel like people are better off without us- this is untrue. I want them to know they are loved, cherished, and irreplaceable.
