Fiestas de las Americas
The 12th Annual Fiestas de las Americas will take place Saturday, September 30 from 10 am to 8 pm in the Historic Capitol Hill (SW 25th St. between S. Walker and Robinson).
The day of entertainment and fun begins with the vibrant Parade of the Americas, featuring beautiful floats, cultural dance groups, student marching bands, and the popular escaramuzas y charros – equestrian riders in traditional costume. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at Capitol Hill High School and features over 70 entries from local schools, non-profits, and other businesses, plus community groups representing their native countries with traditional costumes.
This year, the Ballet Folklórico South Texas College group for their first visit to Oklahoma. The group of over 30 dancers and musicians will perform twice on the Fiestas stage with a range of dynamic and traditional dances from various regions of Mexico. The evening will close with an exciting performance by Banda Lamento Show de Durango. The band prides themselves in their rhythmic and lively musical style while preserving their roots in the Mexican state of Durango.
