Plaza District Festival
September 28 will mark the 21st annual Plaza District Festival. This event, which runs from 11am to 10pm, will feature 32 local artists and their diverse works of art. In addition to the outdoor art vendors, there will be three music stages featuring Oklahoma bands, activities for children, food trucks, and more.
Local art has been a crucial aspect of the Plaza District for years. From galleries displaying the work of artists, to the outdoor mural gallery curated by the Plaza Walls, art is part of what makes the Plaza District a unique destination in Oklahoma City. Art vendors for the Festival are selected through a rigorous, juried selection process.
“Narrowing down the art for this year’s Plaza Festival was difficult since we had so many impressive submissions,” said Sheila Guffey, Artist Committee Co-Chair. “The selection will showcase a diverse variety of medium, styles and subject matter that will make for a fantastic event with something for everyone.”
This year’s selection features new and returning artists, comprised of a wide variety of media, including pottery, metal work, jewelry, photography, paintings, clothing, digital design, fused glass, woodwork, and more.

The Oklahoma Mural Syndicate is pleased to announce the lineup of artists participating in the fourth-annual Plaza Walls Mural Expo presented by Monster Energy on September 28. This year’s event will feature 26 artists ranging from talented locals to internationally-recognized stars.
Oklahoma City’s premier mural exhibition returns for its fourth year during the 21st annual Plaza District Festival. In addition to the usual 5,700 square-foot alleyway and fence boundary, this year’s expo will expand to Oak & Ore’s east-facing wall, adding another 1,500 square-feet of mural canvas. Along with the mural expo, the Plaza Walls Gallery will host an art exhibition featuring original art from participating muralists.
Kris Kanaly, president of the Oklahoma Mural Syndicate, said the artists participating in this iteration of the expo represent incredible international talent.
“This year’s lineup is bananas! We’re so excited to host rock star talent from near and far,” Kanaly said. “Partnering up with Monster Energy has allowed us to book some of our favorite artists from all over like the Few & Far Women of L.A., whose mission is to empower women through street art and skateboarding.
Also, with artists like Kiptoe, Frenemy, Jeremy Nichols, Wiley, Ackzilla, VagabondDom, Skilz and Mariell Guzman, we’re able to celebrate and mix internationally recognized talent with our amazing local artists.”
Artists confirmed for the expo include: Ackzilla, Cread B, Dylan Bradway, Denise Duong, Okie Dust, Few and Far (comprised of Meme, Nico and Ursula X Young), Frenemy, Mariell Guzman, Dawn Jaiye, Kris Kanaly, Holey Kids, Kiptoe, Lauren Miller, Jeremy Nichols, Rascal Pack, Print Party, Virginia Sitzes, Skilz, Cassie Stover, Sullystring, VagabondDom, Sean Vali, Wiley and Zuawe.
“As our project has grown exponentially over the years, we’re excited to be at the point where we can bring in outside talent to mix and collaborate with our super-talented local artists,” Kanaly said. “These visiting artists bring new ideas, new techniques and become ambassadors of our city abroad. As more and more artists see nationally recognized talent visit our community, it grows confidence around the globe for Oklahoma City being a hub for the arts, which encourages tourism and improves our overall image.”
In addition to live artmaking, the expo will feature local DJs The MoneyMakin’ Jam Boys and Skratch, and crowd-favorite emcee StuddaBudda providing atmosphere along the backdrop of the Plaza District Festival. The festival highlights a wide array of Oklahoma’s-own performing and visual arts, live musicians and activities for children. Last year’s Plaza Walls Expo drew more than 30,000 visitors to the alley off of 16th St. and Indiana Ave. Since 2015, the exhibition has hosted more than 100 murals from 80 different artists.
Sponsorship for this year’s event also brings new and familiar organizations to the walls. The Oklahoma Mural Syndicate is excited to announce a new partnership with presenting sponsor Monster Energy and continuing support from Google. The expo is also sponsored by Mason Realty Investors, OneMotorcycle.org, Fowler Automotive, Tinker Federal Credit Union, HIS Paint, Waco of Oklahoma, and Anthem Brewing Co., Pivot Project, Roxy’s Ice Cream, Oak and Ore, The Okay See, The Stray OKC, Empire Slice House, Walker Companies, 21c Museum Hotels, Verbode Group and the Plaza District.
Plaza Walls Expo guests can also contribute to the public art wall with provided spray paint. The expo will run 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 inside the alleyway along 16th Street between Dig It! and Lyric Theatre.
The annual Plaza District Festival is the Plaza District’s largest fundraiser and invites Oklahoma to experience local together by providing the creative space to showcase Oklahoma’s visual artists, musicians and local food trucks. This unique, family-friendly event is free and open to the public. The Plaza District Festival is presented by Braum’s, Fowler Automotive, and Oklahoma’s Credit Union.
