SONIC Free Family Day at OKCMOA
SONIC Free Family Day is back at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art on October 20 from noon to 5 p.m. This event provides the opportunity for visitors to take part in three different art-making activities, while enjoying the Museum’s wide variety of exhibitions currently on view. Free admission and all activities for the day are made possible by SONIC Drive-In and Tyler Media Group.
“We are especially excited for this fall’s SONIC Free Family Day because it gives us an opportunity to share our diverse collection through our current exhibitions with everyone,” said Dr. Michael Anderson, Interim President and CEO. “Since the previous SONIC Free Family Day in March, nearly 100 new works of art have been put on display through three new exhibitions. From artists like legendary painter James Abbott McNeill Whistler, to Thai filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul, visitors can experience a vast array of art styles and mediums. We are thankful to SONIC Drive-In and Tyler Media Group for sponsoring this fun day.”
“We are proud to open the Museum to our community four times a year,” added Christi Woodworth, vice president of public relations for SONIC. “Their dynamic collection of art brings a valuable benefit to our city and we are extremely honored to make it available for all to enjoy. I hope everyone will take advantage of this opportunity to experience the delightful works of art at the museum and spend time with loved ones.”
Free admission to the Museum includes the exhibitions, “From the Golden Age to the Moving Image: The Changing Face of the Permanent Collection,” “Postwar Abstraction: Variations,” “Photographing the Street,” “Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s ‘Fireworks (Archives),'” and “Dale Chihuly: Magic & Light.”
